Sustainability Audit: How do we measure Sustainability in Fashion and what role does transparency play?

In this session we will be looking at different certifications and verifications for sustainability claims in the fashion industry. How do we know who to trust and what can be done to bring more clarity for the end consumers? Additionally, the connection between sustainability and transparency will be explored. Reports such as the yearly Transparency Fashion Index by Fashion Revolution help to measure the transparency efforts of large fast fashion brands and luxury companies. Who provides more insights into their supply chains and how do certain regulations benefit these companies? The aim of this interactive session is to get a better understanding of the connections between regulations, supply chain transparency, sustainability and communication of claims in the fashion industry.

About the Guest-lecturer:  

Sabinna Rachimova is an opinion leader for the future generation of creatives. After graduating from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, she worked for Dior and Mary Katrantzou. As a child, she learned traditional Tatar handcraft from her grandmother, developing a deeply ingrained appreciation for the craft. This early influence was a key inspiration for her namesake brand SABINNA. As an immigrant (born in Central Asia and raised in Europe) Sabinna is passionate about inclusivity and equal opportunities.
In addition to her work as a founder, Sabinna is a consultant with a focus on fashion start-ups and universities across Europe and the UK. Since 2018, she has lectured at and collaborated with universities such as the University of Arts London, AMD, Kingston University and The University of Cambridge. Sabinna is also the co-founder of Fashion Revolution Austria. In 2019, she was named Forbes 30under30 DACH and in 2022 as Drapers Ones To Watch for her achievements as an entrepreneur in the fashion industry.
