Python is a simple, yet flexible and powerful programming language. Simple syntax and a multitude of modules make it one of the most popular languages ​​in business and research worldwide.

It is a universal, commonly interpreted, high level programming language. It aims to promote a legible, concise programming style. For example, blocks are not structured with curly brackets, but with indentations.

In this introductory course, the environment for efficient development is set up and basics such as control flow, variables, functions and Python-typical peculiarities such as dictionaries and functional programming are dealt with. At the end of the course you will have an initial overview of the most important functions and there will be enough time for Q&A at the end of the course.

This course took place for the first time in summer semester 2021 (German only)  Due to the positive feedback and the high demand, we are also offering this again in the winter semester and for teh first time in English.

Active participation from the lecturer is desired; you will do practical exercises live in the system. We will send you download information before the start of the course.

ATTENTION: the course consists of four evening sessions that you should attend:

    • Monday: Oct 18, 6pm - 8 pm

    • Tuesday: Oct 19, 6pm - 8 pm

    Wednesday: practice day on your own, Oct 20

      • Thursday: Oct 21, 6pm - 8 pm

      • Monday: Oct 25, 4pm - 6 pm (Date is moved)


      As this course is expensive and requires a lot of preparation, we need a letter of motivation for registration. You will receive a template when registering.

          • As this course is conducted online, please register with your own device and your full name. Otherwise you may not be registered as a participant.

          • In case of technical problems, please contact us immediately so that we can find a solution as soon as possible.

          • If you are late, please make sure that you are still registered as a participant by the lecturer.

          • If you have to leave the course before the end, please inform the instructor.

          • We reserve the right to give participants who are absent without excuse from workshops, courses, events, etc., lower priority for future participation.

          • In many cases, an unexcused absence means that those interested in the offer cannot move up on the waiting list and valuable places remain free. In addition, the provision of the offers is associated with a high level of planning, coordination and costs.

          • Registration for all events is obligatory. If you are unable to attend the event for important reasons, please cancel your registration via StudyPLUS no later than five days before the event.

          Since no exam is written, you will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course
